About the Firm
A Practice Built on
Principled Counsel
Clermont Law is a Kuala Lumpur-based legal practice serving clients across criminal defence, Syariah matters, and property law — guided by a commitment to clear advice and careful representation.
Back to HomeOur Story
Clermont Law was established in Kuala Lumpur with a straightforward premise: that individuals facing legal challenges — whether in the criminal courts, within Syariah proceedings, or during property transactions — deserve counsel that is both technically sound and genuinely attentive.
The firm was founded by practitioners with backgrounds across the Malaysian civil and Syariah court systems. Over time, the practice has developed a particular depth in the three areas it now focuses on, with each area handled by solicitors who bring focused experience rather than a broad generalist approach.
Located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, we are well-placed to attend proceedings at the High Court, Sessions Court, Magistrates' Court, and the relevant state Syariah courts, as well as the various land registries and authorities that property matters require.
Our Mission
We hold that good legal service means more than technical competence. It means keeping clients informed throughout their matter, setting realistic expectations from the outset, and treating each case with the same care regardless of its size or complexity.
Our role is to provide clear, considered advice that helps clients make well-informed decisions — not to pressure, alarm, or create dependency. Where a matter falls outside our practice areas, we will say so plainly and, where possible, suggest an appropriate referral.
Our Team
The people who handle your matter directly — each bringing focused practice experience to their respective areas.

Standards We Maintain
Our working approach across all matters — from first contact to final completion.
Legal Professional Privilege
All client communications are protected under legal professional privilege. Information disclosed in the course of engagement is not shared with any third party without your express instruction or a legal obligation to do so.
Fee Transparency
We provide a written fee estimate or engagement letter before commencing substantive work. Disbursements and likely additional costs are disclosed at the outset and discussed if circumstances change.
Regular Case Updates
Clients receive updates when there is a material development in their matter. We do not leave clients without information for extended periods, and we respond to correspondence within a reasonable timeframe.
Conflict Checks
Before accepting new instructions, we carry out a conflict of interest check. If a conflict exists or arises, we will advise you promptly and, where appropriate, assist with finding alternative representation.
Continuing Development
Our practitioners fulfil continuing professional development requirements set by the Malaysian Bar Council and, for Syariah matters, the relevant state Islamic legal authorities, keeping current with legislative and case law developments.
Respectful Conduct
Legal processes can be stressful. We make a point of treating clients with patience and respect, and of explaining developments in plain language without condescension or unnecessary alarm.
Legal Practice in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysian law presents a particular complexity for many clients: the parallel operation of civil and Syariah legal systems, combined with a court structure spanning federal and state jurisdictions. Understanding which court has authority over a given matter — and which procedural steps apply — requires practical familiarity, not just theoretical knowledge.
Clermont Law has developed its practice in response to this complexity. Each of our three areas — criminal defence, Syariah advisory, and conveyancing — requires a different set of skills, relationships, and procedural knowledge. Rather than offering every area of law at a general level, we have chosen to go deeper in fewer areas, which we believe produces better outcomes for the clients we serve.
For clients facing criminal proceedings, the quality of early advice can have a significant effect on how a matter develops. For those navigating Syariah family matters, cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the intersection between civil and Syariah systems are as important as technical legal knowledge. For property buyers and sellers, the conveyancing process involves multiple authorities, precise procedural steps, and deadlines — each of which needs careful management to avoid delay or financial exposure.
Our office on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin places us within ready reach of the Kuala Lumpur courts and the Federal Territory land registry, which is relevant to the practical management of clients' matters.
